ITEM Group (Intelligent Technology and Evolutionary Modelling) is an independent, multidisciplinary research-performing organization dedicated to advancing knowledge and innovation in artificial intelligence, data science, and human-centred and inclusive technology.
Founded: In April 2014 and based in West Vancouver, British Columbia, ITEM Group conducts applied and theoretical research that addresses complex challenges in health, education, and social systems, with a strong commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).

ITEM Group’s mission is to conduct independent, high-quality research in artificial intelligence, data science, and computational modelling to advance human well-being through intelligent, inclusive, and data-driven innovation.
We are committed to embedding Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) at every stage of our research and development, and to translating research outcomes through collaboration and responsible knowledge mobilization.

Within the next five years, ITEM Group envisions becoming an internationally recognized research organization advancing the design and application of research-driven intelligent systems for social good. Research & Development
The Research & Development (R&D) Department is the core research unit of ITEM Group. It conducts applied and theoretical research across key domains including artificial intelligence, data science, human-centred innovation, and adaptive systems.
Research activities focus on developing ethical, data-driven models and intelligent systems that inform inclusive design, health and well-being, and socially responsible technology development.
Research Translation & Knowledge Mobilization
The Research Translation & Knowledge Mobilization Department supports the responsible dissemination and application of ITEM Group’s research findings. Its role is to translate validated research outcomes into research-informed tools, pilot implementations, and collaborative initiatives, without displacing the organization’s core research mission.
Activities include knowledge mobilization, research-informed capacity building, and collaborative projects with community, academic, and industry partners aimed at improving accessibility and everyday well-being.
Training & Education Research
The Training & Education Research Department conducts research on inclusive education, digital literacy, and AI-focused learning models across diverse populations.
The department develops and evaluates research-informed curricula, pedagogical frameworks, and learning interventions that support equitable access to knowledge and contribute to research capacity-building in an increasingly digital and intelligent world.
