ITEM Group was founded in 2014 and is based in West Vancouver, BC, Canada. ITEM Group Inc. is a federally incorporated, independent research-performing organization based in Canada.

Since its establishment, the institute has expanded its research activities and collaborations nationally and internationally, fostering interdisciplinary partnerships across academia, healthcare, industry, and community organizations.
